Access and Directions

Montenegro is located in the Western Balkans and is served by a wide variety of national and international air carriers from Europe and globally. The nearest airports are Tivat, (35 mins), Dubrovnik 1h & 30 mins and Podgorica 2 h. All of these airports are served by international carriers flying from Scandanavia, Western and Central Europe and Russia and the Ukraine. Regular boat and ferry Services operate from Italy, While driving from Central Europe is also popular, particular by people living in Austria, Slovenia Germany, Hungary Greece and Poland.

FLIGHTS  Daily schedule and charter flights operate to nearby airports in Montenegro and Croatia,  winter and summer. British Airways, Croatian Airlines, Aer Lingus JAT, Austrian Airlines, Malev as well as several charter companies concordetravel.ie fly from European cities to Dubrovnik, Tivat and Podgorica Airports. Numerous Other airlines fly to Dubrovnik airport in Croatia from countries and cities as far as Ireland and the UK in western Europe, Amsterdam, and Scandinavia in northern Europe, France, Spain and Germany, as well as the central European states and Russia in the East. There are direct flights from London Gatwick to Tivat Airport ( Montenegro Airlines) and Dubrovnik Airport ( British Airways) winter and summer. Regular sea lines operate from Bari and Ancona in Italy to Dubrovnik and Bar.

More information on flights to Dubrovnik Tivat and Podgorica from the UK and Ireland

British Airways flies daily from London Gatwick to Dubrovnik from late March until late October, and four times a week outside these dates. Flights leave at 11:00 am and take 2 hours 40 minutes. Prices from Gatwick to Dubrovnik start from £60 one-way, including all fees and taxes. There are early morning flights from Manchester which connect with this service, with prices from around £160 return. Book online at www.ba.com

Thomson flies to Dubrovnik from Manchester and London Gatwick on Sundays between May and November and has some really great deals. Check what they have on offer at www.thomsonfly.com.

Budget airline easyJet is introducing flights from London Gatwick to Dubrovnik in May 2009. Flights will operate four times a week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday - and will cost from £23.99 one-way.

Flybe has reasonably priced flights from Birmingham to Dubrovnik between May and October. In addition, the airline is introducing flights from Southhampton to Dubrovnik in May 2009, flying Sundays only. Look for good deals at www.flybe.com.

Aer Lingus flies direct from Dublin to Dubrovnik several times a week. Book at www.flyaerlingus.com

Montenegro Airlines flies from Gatwick to Tivat twice a week, on Wednesday and Sunday. Return fares begin at around £200.

Driving Directions from

Tivat Airport Take right as you leave airport, towards BUDVA until you reach the CROSSROADS after 2 km. Take right and follow the sign for RADOVICI. Continue through the town until you see sign for MIRISTA AND ZANJICE Beaches. Follow this country road around the peninsula for 12 km, until you reach the sign for these beaches (pointing to the left). Follow the sign for Rose (right). Pass through the next small roadside village, the road will start a gentle descent. At the bottom of this on a bend you will see an old church on the right side; and 100 metres after this you turn left into the town of MAROVICI. The sign into the town also lists the Church of Sv Dorje ( pronounced George). 

Dubrovnik Airport. Time  1h 30m.  Drive south to Montenegrin border, and follow the main coast road passing though HERZEG NOVI. ZELENKA, KUMBOR, DENOVICI, BIJELA until you reach 24h short car ferry at KAMENARI. Cross the fjord and follow road to TIVAT , Pass straight through Tivat and follow the Budva road for 3km until you reach the CROSSROADS at RASICIA. See directions from Tivat Airport. There is a good 24h VU)K petrol station just beyond the crossroads on the right side. The crossroads at RASICIA is the main junction for KOTOR (5 mins), BUDVA (20 MINS) and TIVAT (5 mins) and onto to the LUSTICA Peninsula

From Podgorica, ( 2 hours) take highway to Tivat and follow directions above.

Fjord_Area

While staying in the Lustica house in Marovici, a car is essential for arrival and departure as well as nearby visits to the historical towns of Budva, Tivat, and Kotor, the interesting Bokar Kotor fjord area and beyond.  A car is also useful for stocking-up at the shopping centres at the nearby small or large towns of Radovici, Tivat, Kotor and Budva.
